Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

In springtime literally hundreds and thousands of people come to the Skagit Valley to visit the most amazing and colorful tulip fields. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival was officially inaugurated in 1984, but it was first only sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. It was such a big hit that the festival became it's own event.

Blooming dates are according to what mother nature has in store, but typically the whole month of April is set for the festivities, come rain or shine. The tulip fields and all the festivities are a must see if traveling to the Pacific Northwest. You can catch glimpses of the beautiful fields when driving between the towns of LaConner and Mt. Vernon Washington. The fields are easily accessible from Hiway 20 towards LaConner and some are even visible from the highway, they are truly a sight for soar eyes. This has to be the most awesome exhibit of nature that you can experience. I've lived in Washington state for over 26 years and I have tried to attend each year, but honestly each time I go they are even more beautiful than my previous visits, with more activities added to the festival as well. The only thing left to do is take the helicopter ride around the tulip fields, what a kick that would be. So follow me, and lets take a quick tour of some of natures colorful masterpieces shall we!

Wow, this is so beautiful. I have a son in the service stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. I wonder if this is near there?

Hi creativelycc, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Mt. Vernon is about 2 hours drive north of Ft. Lewis so next time you are visiting you need to take in the tulips. Cheers to you!

Nothing like a field full of beauty, is there? I take a trip up to the Botanical Gardens in Burlington (Canada) every year for their tulip festival. What a sight. Thanks for the reminder that there is such a thing as spring to look forward to.

Amazing! Your pictures are beautiful. I was lucky enough to see the tulips in the Netherlands several years ago when my daughter was studying there -- and I didn't know we grew them so beautifully in the US.

Hey -- I am glad to be your 100th follower!
